These weeks leading up to Christmas, we are sweeping through scripture from beginning to end to see the big picture. I call it the ‘Immanuel Life. ‘Immanuel’ is the Hebrew name for God, and it means “God is with us”. It is the title given to Jesus because he is “God with us”, and he makes life with-God possible - so you can join him and live your entire life “With-God”.
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day... Gen 3:8 (NIV)
I want to take a hint from that verse about what life was like in the garden. It seems as though Adam and Eve were used to the sound of God walking in the garden. Perhaps because they often walked with him in the evenings of those days? I think so. I think they walked in those cool evenings and talked over what they were doing together in their Garden project. The unseen eternal God, creator of the cosmos, “God of wonders beyond our galaxy”, walking with Adam and Eve in the Garden. Wow. .. God made you to know his voice and walk with him in the cool of the day and talk over what you are doing together in his Kingdom project.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own; And the joy we share as we tarry there None other has ever known.
